July 15th I got up for a morning ride and to let Sheila visit with her Mom, I rode around town washed the bike at a carwash and then went and found a place to eat. Bingo Cooks Kitchen, if you’re in Brookings there are two places that one must eat and they are a few blocks from each other. The cool thing is there are a bunch of bars around them too.
Cooks Kitchen, I had breakfast there, the first time I have seen stuffed hash browns, well another take on waffle house, but better. Of course I had the one called the kitchen sink and added to over easy eggs and a side of Gravy, lol.

July 16th Today we are headed out but first we want to meet with a cousin of Sheila’s, Joel and we decided to go to Nick’s the other must go to place, The Menu is Burgers chips and shakes. Pretty much was the menu, no fries. They cook the burgers in Lard, pretty much Burger grease, and they are like sliders. I should have ordered 20 of them and just stuffed them on the back and ate them all day LOL.

We then headed out towards Muskegon MI, there are choices on the route to be made, there is a ferry across the lake, about $210 dollars, which might have been cool to do, but we had till the 18th to get to Muskegon. The other way was around Chicago and there is no way you will get me to go there. So I made my own route we went north to go see Lake Superior, we checked into Quality Inn Ashland WI on Lake Superior. It was 54 degrees and the sun was going down. You know a week ago we rode in 100 degree heat for a few days. We were running out of room on the bike and we decided to UPS our Jackets home. I mean it is the middle of July right, sigh. Lake Superior never warms up and a cold front was blowing through, a cold front in July, wow, a beautiful lake awesome hotel.
July 17th headed to Traverse City, supposed to be a party town. Perfect for my Birthday LOL, Awesome riding up here, out in the country, beautiful country side and not over crowded. We rode over the Mackinaw Bridge, what an experience that was, one lane was grated and the other was paved, never seen anything like it. The speed limit was 25 for trucks and 35 for cars I think. But it is a big ass bridge and it was a bit windy so I was in no hurry. Oh my, I have found a Big Boy, what a treat; they still exist up here in Michigan, very good food. They had a buffet so I tried that, Sheila gave me a bite of her burger and it was fing great. Oh well I will know better next time.

So we make it to Traverse City MI, all the hotels are $$$, ugh… So I find a Holiday Inn Express, how bad could it be? $$$ of course it is a resort, bar food on the water. We checked in and we had a free drink to help soothe the soul after paying too much for a room, it was very comfy room. Sitting at the bar I told the bartender it was my birthday and he gave me a shot. Awesome, so I asked him where a steak house was and the good employee said here. I told him that I really would like to go to an old steak house one that has been around forever, they pointed me to Modem Bum Steer and then called the concierge to give us a ride to the Steak house. He let us know he would be able to pick us up if it was before 10:30 that he usually had to run to the Airport to pick up travelers.
So we get to the steak house and yep exactly what I was looking for, they were out of Porter House. That was there big steak. So I settled for a one pound Prime Rib. Was awesome, glad we hit this place. Went next door for drinks at Dillinger’s Pub, place was dead and horrible service LOL. But I had a good time with the love of my life. July 18th time to get to Muskegon MI for the Bike Rally, we have some friends that live there they had a Travel trailer for us to stay in, they ran power and water out there for us. Was awesome, we also have some friends from Ohio that came up so we had a bunch of us running around together was fun to get to hang out with some friends. They let my start a fire in there burn pit, lol. Love hanging out by a fire, besides it was 63 at night so it was cool enough for a fire.

We had a great time going to the bike week there. I hope to come back here again, was fun.

Bars and food of course.

After all the drunken fun here we decided we were ready to get to our own bed and see if the house was still there, besides that I need to find a job LOL
