So here it is July 9th, our anniversary and what do we do, we leave the comforts of Missouri and hit the trail again. So we started out heading towards Yellowstone, which is the plan anyways. We rode 500 miles and the temp reached up to 100 degrees for our second anniversary and so we decided to get a room. I decided to get a nice room. I have learned to just go to the Holiday Inn expresses, they are a bit more than the average rooms but after riding the miles we have been putting down I am appreciating the comfy beds and the clean rooms.
Jacuzzi in the living area, was awesome, we stopped by a Harley Dealer for a cool off and see if there was anyone that would divulge a place to go to in Council Bluffs Iowa. We were directed to The Salty Dog bar and Grill, was a pretty nice hole in the wall and we were made to feel at home there, of course the girl that sold us some shirts also bartended at this place. They had great food and the usual hole in the wall crowd.
Oh yeah, Bike mileage at this point 13K miles, 8K for this trip so far. July 10th Sheila wanted to check out this palace made of corn, well it is not made of corn it is covered in corn on the cobs. Interesting place was glad we stopped by it to see it.
Then the next stop was Wall Drug, not sure about this place. You see signs for it all over the Dakotas, I mean 250 miles away there is a sign out in a field. It is crazy, well the place probably was very cool back in the day, but now it is a tourist trap and that is it, there are a bunch of unhappy people working there. They bragged up the Pie and it was alright, it is worth the stop. The free water is nothing to brag about, I drank it, because it was free LOL. Basically tap water
Wow, today was brutal. We rode in 100 degree heat today, the wind was blowing and had the bike leaned over and the wind was just blasting us all day, was a brutal day. We made it to Deadwood, there were a ton of trikes riding around , was a bit different having more trikes around us than Bikes. Come to find out there is a Trike rally in Deadwood at this time of the year. We checked into a Best Western and I of course was ready for some dinner, the place has a diner so I could not resist that one.
