Chapter 02

Across the West

Boise, Coos Bay and the first look at the Pacific

So here it is Day 5 on the road, we traveled 786 miles today, we are waking up in Denver and realize we have some extra time if we get another good run in today, we set our sights on maybe going to Coos Bay OR for a day, which was fine we could get the coastal ride out of the way on the way up to Washington. We ran into 80 MPH Interstates and I took advantage of that for a while till I realized the gas mileage was crap at those speeds, I slowed back down. We make it to Boise Idaho and found a Hotel that evening, was amazed at how light it was out for being after 9PM. We ate dinner at the Hotel we were both pretty tired after running two days, we ate had some drinks at the Hotel bar and went to our Chlorine filled room, right next to the pool. But we slept well.

Day 6 we headed out for Coos Bay OR Speed went from Hall ass to Crawl LOL, 65 MPH all over the place no matter what. We finally made it there, 568 miles down today, a nice short relaxing ride; we found a Best Western to check into was very nice place with a view of the Ocean. It is a Logging town for sure; it looks like they ship out Logs, Large stock piles of them all over. Was a lot cooler there which was inviting after the heat from Texas.
